ok i have a really really dumb question, what exactly is the “fresh prince meme” thing, i clicked on it and read it and i dont get what the point it, is it just an unfunny joke or something?
It’s a parody of the theme song…it helps if you can open two tabs, and listen to the FP theme in one and read the “article” in the other, at the same time.

I don’t remember the song being that long! I’ve never seen the packing/plane verse before…
Me neither, all the versions I’ve seen in the UK skip the “I begged and pleaded” bit and jump straight to “I whistled for a cab”.
Did us Brits get an edited opening or is my memory just terrible?
the ” begged and pleaded” wasn’t in the uk opening. unfortunately the theme is taking up the space in my head where my parents wedding anniversary should be, has been since it was first aired here and will probably be the only thing i remember when i’m 90
The full version of the theme song was only used on the first three episodes of the show. This isn’t even the full theme. There’s a verse or two missing. Anyway, they shortened it and used that up until episode 9, when they shortened it again. The shortened theme song allowed for longer episodes.
yeah the full theme that was on a DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince Album, had one extra verse. all I can remember was “..A man looked like a cop standing calling my name out. I dont wanna get arrested yet, I just got here…”
“Well, the plane landed and when I came out, there was a dude who looked like a cop standing there with my name out, I ain’t trying to get arrested, I just got here, I sprang with the quickness like lightning” :] In my senior year of high school for my veterinary technology class we had to make a song about the blood flow cycle throughout the body, starting and ending with the heart. We could make our own tune or use an existing one. I used this song.
I listened to it nonstop for a while. I’ve got it memorized now…

I feel SO OLD. I remember when my big sister would watch it with the volume real low when my mom would work upstairs and I would listen along and pretend I understood all the pseudo-”cool” high-school dialog on that show. We were from a very conservative high school family and that stuff was considered to rot the brain if we watched it without parental approval. It had DATING and kissing without COMMITMENT!

I rarely watch the show itself, but sometimes I watch the theme song just for laughs. It’s so hilarious, because of the song but also the silly dancing and outfits.
My twelve-year-old is recording this show and watching it while he eats his breakfast every day.

I loved the one where Uncle Phil walked in with the red sweater on and Will yelled, “Hey, KoolAid!” Cracks me up every time I think about it.

God, I LOVED this show, and so did my stepdad. He usually turned it on before i got in the room and he was already laughing at it before I had a chance to sit down.

This is one of those shows you can watch over and over through the years and it is always funny.
The missing lyrics begin after “Is that what the people of Bel-air livin’ like? Hmmmm….this might be alright.” and go “But wait I hear the percy bougeouis and all that. Is this the kind of place that they should send this cool cat? I don’t think so. I’ll see when I get there. I hope they’re prepared for the Prince of Bel-air.
