Epic Win: Koosh Ball

Submitted by M Block
Koosh Balls were made for two things.
Driving your pets insane:
Beating the snot out of your friends:
I love how in true kid fashion, the Koosh War escalates to another, bigger ball, a light saber, and then karate kicks. My Koosh Wars as a kid definitely improved my aim and my ducking skills.

The kid actually said, “I’m totally pwning you.” *sigh*
I know. That’s when I lost it too.
-facepalm-
I feel old now… “Pwning”… sigh.
i need to find mine. it was black and neon green… as all the best things from the 80s were.
Black and neon green are my favorite colors!
Yeah… this is great and all, but neither of those two videos shows the koosh ball. The video with the kitten actually has the suction-cup ball, and the other one I can’t remember the name of, but the koosh ball was never inflated, and it wasn’t that huge.
Come on folks, somewhere out there must be videos of actual Koosh balls and not these wannabes.
They were also great for getting stuck in ceiling tiles but you had to throw them just right so the tile would come up enough to trap it on the way back down.
My older brother had one of these. Then me being me at the tender age when little children learn what scissors are I decided to give the Koosh Ball a bit of a trim up. XD
Mine was blue and green and I’m pretty sure is still somewhere in my room.
My grandfather gave me one of those, never knew what they were called.
I had MANY kooshes in grade school/jr high. Sadly most of them got stolen. You can still find them once in a while in the toy stores. I have 5 at my desk at work, including the self-same rainbow one in the picture, which is bigger than the standard size ones. The mega-Koosh. They are fun to play with and easy to catch for people with no motor skills, like me. Also fun to throw at office mates who are getting on one’s nerves.
I had forgotten the name of those. We have one in our kids’ toybox. Then, last night I was rearranging some boxes and found a Mickey Mouse keychain that had one as part of it.
1:10 “As long as it touches him, he will DIE!!! You touched it. you died” “You wish man, you wish”
also, 0:40, “ohhh i needa poo. ahrrg!” *pulls out a koosh ball from behind his butt* what is up with that? kids being goof balls i guess. at least they where having fun.
Also good for learning to juggle, and for teaching little kids how to catch. Or duck.
Mostly, duck.
I always brought one of these things with me when I would babysit- it was something they could chuck around and not break anything… well, not break some things.
They were awesome for juggling, too.
My kooshball is on my keychain and is getting smaller and smaller every day. You see, I shred the bejeezus out of it when I get mad at my kids or am otherwise stressed.
My kooshball gives its hair so that my children may live.
That’s very noble of your koosh ball.
That it is. ;_; TT__TT
I had like six of those for a while… don’t know where they went. My oldest one was purple with a pink stripe down the middle
I love Koosh balls! I had quite a few over the years. My cats kept stealing them.
Mine was red, white, and blue. I always thought Koosh balls smelled weird.
I could not stop chewing on mine (I was very young…) so mine *allways* smelled weird
They do indeed smell weird. They’re fun, but do those things smell nasty or what!
I had several koosh balls, and I kept them for years. I finally had to throw them away when the rubber oxidized and they started leaving little bits’o'koosh everywhere. Very sad.
Does anyone remember when they changed the koosh balls? The rubber strands started off very slender, and then they changed the design to these thicker strands. I liked the original design more, and they never brought them back. Very sad. But then, all koosh balls were made of epic win. And whoever voted them down… it’s because you got hit in the eye with a koosh ball and went crying to your mom and never lived it down.
Koosh balls inspired the name of my first cat. :>
my kooshes always ended up with ridiculous amounts of hair stuck in them. and yes, remember those fine-stranded kooshes, they were much more fun…and more efficient at capturing my hair.
Hey, I’d forgotten all about these. I had a red one. Just red. It was awesome.
I had a Koosh ball basketball set! It was so fun! I don’t know how, but my mom manages to still have 3 or 4 of these. My 3 year old thinks they are fun to throw at the cats. He catches on fast. lol
My dad invented those things!! Believe it or not.
OH MY GOD KOOSH!!!!!
Totally had a few of these as a kid. one was rainbow i think. one was pink, black, and lime green. and i think i had a pink one? i could be completely wrong.
but very fun toy.
D= I had a rainbow one just like that… I cannot recall how many times my brother and I threw it at eachother in fits of kiddie rage. Oh god, I miss being little. Imma go play with my pokemon cards now…
This is one of my all-time FAVORITE toys. I LOVE them….but it always sucks when the loops on the one end break.
Kids were OBSESSED with these in 5th and 6th grade. We had an official classroom koosh ball, for our circle meetings. However, if you weren’t a cool kid, it wasn’t cool for you to be playing with one. Lulz.
i love these. my younger cousin has a purple one with a face and light up ball on the inside. thanks koosh ball.
still popular after all these years.
I would also spin them around and around…and then there was that extremely unfortunate moment when I put it a little too close to my head, and it sucked up my hair. I distinctly remember the look on my mom’s face when she realized I had a Koosh Ball stuck to my head.
went into a toy store while passing by with friends a few days ago, all of us were between the ages of 18 – 26, upon playing with just about everything in the store we could get our hands on, i pick up the giant “koosh.” pulling back on a few of the threads against aiming at two people who had other items easily used as projectiles… snap. it flew across the store far exceeding the heads of the buddies which were aimed at. proof you’re never too old for a koosh ball… or to look really immature. never. too old. ever.
Mine was a yellow glow in the dark koosh ball that my friends and I would play with late at night
