Epic Win: Bo Jackson/Tecmo Super Bowl
From Wikipedia:
Jackson’s legend was further cemented by his digital counterpart, affectionately known as “Tecmo Bo”, in the video game Tecmo Super Bowl for the Nintendo Entertainment System. “Tecmo Bo” is one of the best running backs — and arguably the most lethal athlete — in video game history. Players using “Tecmo Bo” have been able to rush for 800-900 yards per game and run all over the field on one play and run out the time of a whole quarter without being tackled.

My dad used to whoop my ass all the time playing this game. Awesome.
Now what excuse does he use?
Chinese checkers.
Also, FIRST. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
From the past? I was playing this on my NES last night! Which, I guess actually is the past. Never mind.
Yes, this game rules and all, but this blog just makes me think of Goat Boy from SNL going “Hey, remember ________?”
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go watch some ‘I Love the 80s.’
Agreed. Just because we all remember this crap, that doesn’t mean it ruled.
You know what was the most nostalgic part?
“Touchdown, Raiders”. You just don’t see that anymore.
ROFL!!
I wish we could uprate comments. I had to work very hard to keep from falling out of my chair while laughing in response to the above comment. In fact, I think I pulled a muscle in my back.
Best football video game ever. Period.
One thing really underappreciated about this game is the awesome music. And the hawt cheerleaders at halftime.
Also, Joe Montana + Jerry Rice for 80-yard touchdowns, nearly guaranteed. (I even remember the play, it was the pass play in the “up” direction on the default 49ers playbook.)
My favorite team in Tecmo Bowl was actually Houston. Warren Moon and his receiving corps were simply lethal in that game.
And screw running around the field for an entire quarter killing time like the clip above; my goal was running up the score and getting it as high as I could.
the raiders are my main team. howie long always sacks.
I loved in Tecmo Bowl (not super) when Bo would score a touchdown and they would go in for the High-5, he would be a white guy
What’s that music called? I recognize it from Pokemon Generation One.
That tells me so much about you and your life…. and that you should get one ,or end yours, immediately.
You’re a jerk. Pokemon is cool. A lot of people play it. And what DOES that telll you? You don’t even know me.
Ready! Down! Hut! Hut! Hut! Hut! Hut! Hut! Hut! Hut! Hut! Hut! Hut! Hut! Hut!
I used to leave it on that while my mom was in the room. It would drive her nuts!
WAR EAGLE!!!!!
I loved/love this game, that clip was classic, though I’m on board with Chris, my goal was always to run the score up as high as possible. I usually used the lions, even though they weren’t that good, because I could use Barry Sanders, then run almost every down.
Hey, the Raiders are a blast from the past! DOUBLE WIN!
Touchdown Thurman Thomas!
Wish we could have a tournement online somehow. Is there a way with Wii? I have a season running right now. raiders all the way!
Nobody popcorned tacklers like Bo Jackson. But let’s not forget the sleeper back: Eric Dickerson for the Colts!
never played this one, i don’t recall playing it, i played intellivision.
