“Duck Hunt (ダックハント, Duck Hunt?) is a video game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) game console system in which players use the NES Zapper to shoot ducks on screen for points. The game was developed and published by Nintendo, and was released in 1984 in Japan. The ducks appear one or two at a time, and the player is given three shots to shoot them down.
Duck Hunt was one of the two original pack-in titles for the first release of the game system. The game was not initially reviewed often, but given mediocre critical praise and positive gamer reaction. Prior to the NES version, Nintendo also made a Duck Hunt game based on Laser Clay Shooting System released in 1976.”

YEAH I fucking HATED that dog! All Luaghing at me! Anyway we found that in my husband’s mother’s house in her attic he used to play with. I spent a whole day re-playing it till i figured out i never got any better at it! lol

Man… I’m 18, and I sitll own that game.. it’s Duck hunt with Mario attached.. I dunno if they all came out like that, but I saw it and was like “omg… must… have… NOW” I was never into the 64 playstations or whatever we have out now… the Sega and Super Nintendo will always be my fave.. (too bad they don’t come out with new games though!!!)
I have the NES game cartridge with Duck Hunt, Mario, and the running game on it. My brother bought me and my little sister the NES system and that game when we were little, from a garage sale!
The only thing I’ve lost is the running mat, due to water damage.
My husband was thrilled to no end when we moved in together… I don’t think he stopped playing Duck Hunt for weeks, except to go to work!

Would be hard for me to say for sure but I think you’re right. I got my first nes for christmas in 86 and it only had trhe mario cartridge. Some of my friends that got one shortly after got the twin pack. I was a little jelous.

BTW I found that if you used a really small TV, and got really far away from it, you couldn’t miss the duck. We had the cables connecting the gun to the NES and the NES to the TV stretched to max

God, this game was in the quarter arcade downtown. I played it with friends constantly.

I hated the dog, too. The only cool thing about that game was that if you were shooting ducks, you could have a friend control where they flew with a controller in the B slot. Anyone remember that?
I totally remember that! I pissed my brother off once big time because he didn’t know that I was controlling the duck. “God damn duck isn’t flying so I can shoot him!” heheheh. I also remember one of us being chastised essentially for not aspirating the “h” in Hunt… if you don’t, it sounds like you’re talking about “da c*nt!”
I still have this game! And I am quite bad at it! I need to retrieve the Zapper from home to play it, though. Oh gosh, I love still having a working NES. So many memories…

HELL YES. I’m from the SNES generation, but I LOVELOVELOVE this game. My grandma has two NES [only one of which works] and she has this game. I LOVELOVELOVE it. I can’t get enough of it at times.

I had a different gun…maybe because it was the 90s as opposed to the 80s? I dunno…but it was bulkier than the NES zapper and solid orange (no gray).

YOU CAN SHOOT THE DOG! I’ll never forget playing the arcade version of this game with my dad at a campground in Wisconsin…you CAN shoot the dog. It took shooting at him a couple times i think… I remember because he hated the dog SO much, and after a couple tries to shoot the dog IT WORKED. The dog’s fur flies off cartoon-style, and he acts like he’s naked and disappears until the next time you miss.
i was great at this game as a kid, ironically enough, i’ve been a vegetarian for the past 8 years lol
