His laid back way suited me and got me to get my paints out and start painting again. I too loved his "beat the devil out of it" brush cleaning. I miss him. Some art snobs don't consider his paintings "legitimate art" but he never claimed them to be. As he often said, you can create your own little world on the canvas.
