Epic Win: Captain America

Jul. 4, 2009

Captain America has been around since 1941! How Epic is that? He’s traveled through alternate futures, traveled through time, and even caused the creation of an alternate universe. He doesn’t even have super powers, just an indestructible shield with which he’s been kicking ass for the last 68 years. He died back in 2007, but they couldn’t even keep him dead – he’s been resurrected in a new series that just hit the shelves.

Epic Win: The Hobbit

Jul. 3, 2009

once upon a win

The Hobbit was what started it all, opening the door for J.R.R. Tolkien to create the world of Middle Earth – without it, there would be no Lord of the Rings or any of the other tales and poems. There are so many other epic things that we can also credit back to Tolkien’s creation of the Hobbit and Middle Earth, for instance, at least four Led Zepellin songs either reference or were written specifically about The Lord of the Rings.
We remember first opening The Hobbit and how it sucked us into its world full of mythical creatures, magic, and fantasy. Thank you J.R.R. Tolkien, you and your novel are truly an Epic Win.

Epic Win: Roller Racer

once upon a win

We’re at a loss for words here… Nobody in the office knows what this is or why it got good votes. Do you know what it is? Did you have one when you were a kid? Was it epic? Please tell us how epic it was, because we’re at a loss for words.
The video makes it look pretty cool though:

Epic Win: Squeezit

Squeezits were just a glorified juice box, but for some reason squeezing the juice into your mouth instead of sucking it through a straw made it that much more delicious. It’s probably because it was the sweetest, most non-healthy, funny colored kids beverage on the market at a time when most kids drinks were still mostly-natural juice drinks, except kool-aid and CapriSun. For whatever reason, they’ll always hold a nostalgic place in the memories of our childhood.

The Commodore 64 is an Epic Win for bringing home computing and games to the masses. Not only was it stand-alone as a game console, but if you were savvy enough you could also program on it.
